Peter's Drive-In, located at 5151 Calgary Trail NW in Edmonton, is a quintessential burger joint that evokes nostalgia while delivering delicious meals. Diners rave about their amazing milkshakes, boasting thick textures and natural flavors, with the mango variety receiving particular applause for its palate-pleasing quality. The menu offers a variety of burgers including substantial double patties that deliver great value for money. Patrons are greeted with friendly service, highlighting the restaurant's community vibe.
However, the experience can be hit or miss. Some reviews mention that the poutine may not stand out, and the new fries have received mixed feedback, with a longing for the previous recipe. While cleanliness is a consistent positive, concerns about pricing and portion sizes have been raised. Overall, Peter's Drive-In remains a beloved stop for many who appreciate local ingredients and a robust fast-food experience. Though it may not be bustling with customers during off-peak hours, the quality and care behind each meal and shake encourage a visit. Even if it's just for a milkshake, Peter's promises a delightful experience for all fast-food lovers.

Good old fashioned burger joint. Milkshakes are AMAZING! Be prepared for lots of choices! Look at burger toppings and then the topping options. I just wish they offered bacon but! 1 burger for the price of a teen burger is about as filling as 2 teen burgers or 3 big macs I'm surprised there isn't a longer lineup every time I go!

09/26/23 You're definitely driving by this place and not stopping for sure. It's very dead. 0 customers. I went around 1pm in the afternoon and saw only one customer. This place is ran by a bunch of friendly Filipinos. I only bought a milkshake so I can't give a review for their food. Menu said milkshakes range from 6-6.50. It would've been nice it it stated why and which ones were more. I ended up paying 7.14 for my milkshake. Portion wise, makes sense, does it taste good? It sure does. I ordered mango and it does have hints of real mango in it and I can taste it. If you have poor straw slurping skills well, this might not be edible for you. My straw ended up getting a bit squished. You really have to suck the life out of this drink that's how thick it is. A little thicker than regular milkshakes but I'd just call it drinkable soft serve ice cream because that's kinda what I felt like I was eating. Service was average, "Hi what do you want/here's your order." I will come back again once in a while. Free car air freshener so can't go wrong with that. I still don't understand how this place is in business. It's s dead and empty the restaurant is spotless clean. I also really love their biodegradable straws, and utensils. This place is a hit or miss, come at your own risk. 10/02/23 Welp, I tried the food, a poutine and it was certainly made "fresh". I'm too scared to try their other stuff because of the reviews so I'll let others decide on that. Poutine was nothing extraordinary but it was good for me. I bought a fountain drink and tried the lemonades they had. Way too sweet and filled with too much sugar. Better off with water or diet pepsi. Nothing healthy about this place so come here if you want a treat. Pouting was over 8 I just feel like everything is overpriced here and not worth it.

A basic burger but quality ingredients. 2 patties in the cheese burger which is incredible value. I was also impressed with the fries. Large portion and homemade. The place was also really clean. A proper meal and drink for 15

I love them for what they stand for (if I understand correctly: hiring local staff at decent wages and preparing fast food burgers with fresh locally sourced ingredients - correct me if I'm wrong)... but damn, the fries used to be different and they were so much better. Hope they keep doing well at the things they're getting right AND bring those old fries back - still a good bang for your buck but srsly the new skinny soggy McDonald's style ones just aren't as tasty.

When this place only existed in Calgary, I wouldn’t let myself drive through without stopping. Burgers and tasty, best milkshakes anywhere, and a ridiculous amount of fries. Peter’s is always super clean (I wouldn’t recommend eating off the floor or tables but you probably could). It’s fast and efficient and fairly priced. It will blow your mind when you see the size of “family fries”.

I had the pleasure of working with the lovely staff at this location of Peter's Drive-In. I work at Wellspring Alberta and for one of our programs, we are required to order in food. I have to extend my most sincere gratitude to the team at Peter's Drive-In for their support! I was able to easily get my orders in to them, they were very responsive when we had changes that had to be made (unfortunately, we had to postpone our orders twice), and were extremely patient, polite, and efficient. Overall, I was so grateful to get to work with the team here at Peter's Drive-In in Edmonton. Both orders were amazing and everyone loved the food-- in fact, people were really looking forward to the next time we would be getting food from there! So to everyone on the team at Peter's Drive-In on Calgary Trail thank you SO MUCH for all of your kindness, support, and above all: AMAZING food! We look forward to working with you again in the future :)

Very tasty and good service! We had burgers, a milkshake, poutine and onion rings. Portion sizes were good, and everything tasted and looked fresh!

It's great to have a staple of our travels through Calgary & more recently Red Deer here in Edmonton. We recently stopped in for a treat and it did not disappoint. Just a couple of milkshakes for us adults, some junior cones for our children, and an order of onion rings to share. Service was quick on a Sunday afternoon (2PM). Everything was extremely delicious and we look forward to returning for a treat again.
